Connecting to the Wider World
Elderly people living in care homes can sometimes feel disconnected from the wider world, especially if they are unable or choose not to venture outside their home. By bring aspects of the world into artwork, they re-experience things such as different weather, countries, children, trees and many other wonderful things.
Seasonal Art Work
I love to base projects around the seasons, using inspiration from nature and festivals celebrated at different times of year.
I am respectful of people's religious beliefs and like to incorporate these into activities.
Activities range from a simple still life set up using seasonal vegetables, fruit, flowers or leaves to the creation of a moving light show.
During still life feeling and smelling the objects is all part of a whole sensory experience. We use a variety of materials to express the forms on paper and sometimes create a three dimensional scene as a group, or art work and shadow puppets projected onto a screen as a shadow show with music and many other activities.
My training in art and years of experience and experimentation have given me a wide palette of skills to offer.
Winter Snow Scene
A group project involving people of varied physical abilities working together to produce one piece.
This kind of work can bring more of a feeling of community and connection with others for group members.
Stories of the Elders
An inter-generational project at the Lewes House of Friendship. Working with a professional writer and another puppeteer.
